Kim Delaney, an American actress best known as the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she was awarded the Emmy Award. She has also starred in series like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. She was born as the only child of a high-ranking executive in the United Auto Workers and a household worker, Delaney grew up with her four brothers. As a child she longed to be a reporter for the court. However, after graduating from high school and relocating into New York in the 1980s then she started modeling. Her first appearance acting was as a young girl in the show All My Children. Delaney was a talented young actress in the 80s, has been featured in several films TV movies as well as dramas. Contrary to her successful professional life, Delaney's personal one is not as successful and happy. She has also experienced two divorces that failed and fought with alcoholism. In 2005, the actress was denied custody over her only son.
